CrossFit Games 2020: What to Expect

CrossFit Games 2021 is nearing and many participants are excited. Besides the usual competitions like the men's, women's events will also take place. The women's competition, Pegboard contests, Cutting system and Reebok equipment are all well-known. But, do you really know what to expect? Read on to find out more. Women are competing

This morning, the women's competition began at the 2021 Crossfit Games with the swim event. Jonne and Tia Claire Toomey-Orr won the first competition. Koski was the overall champion after she maintained her lead throughout. Tall and Eramo O'Connell finished second and third, respectively. This was the first Games event for women and the women's team hoped to finish the podium.

The women's contest is filled with high-level athletes. Nine athletes are represented in the field, including a young Australian powerhouse who won last year's competition. Other contenders are Australian athlete Kara Saunders, who finished second in Australia and eleventh worldwide in 2020. Andrea Nisler is another rising star. She competed in the team category in 2018 and placed third in the United States, and 15th overall in 2020. The Women's competition will feature these athletes as well as Sara Sigmundsdottir (an Icelandan competitor who won the first place medal at World Crossfit Games earlier last year).

Pegboard contest

Pegboard contest at Crossfit Games 2121 was a new concept. It was also added to the Games' Olympic summer program. Toomey-Orr, who won 30 games events, holds the record of most wins in one Games event. Sager won Event 11 and became the Games' third winner. There were many ties throughout the contest, but ToomeyOrr was the dominant force that won the contest.

To determine the top ten, the top 30 athletes compete in a sprint tandem. The top 20 athletes then compete in six more events. Castro's system has been criticized by veterans Games athletes who feel that the cuts are too significant.

Reebok has released new CrossFit Games shoes, clothing and equipment. The Nano X1 shoes are the new model. They can be used for multiple fitness goals. Although Reebok calls this shoe "the shoe for fitness", it feels more like a training shoe. DuPont's Kevlar upper promotes breathability while ensuring durability. The firm midsole and RopePro tech enhance the responsiveness of the shoes.

CrossFit's contract with Reebok will expire at the end 2020. The Games will no longer have a title sponsor. Reebok has sponsored the Games for more than a decade. It is now evident that their involvement in the Games will decrease. However, Reebok CrossFit Games will no longer be called the company.
