The CrossFit Games 2021 are on the horizon, and many of the participants are incredibly excited. Along with the usual CrossFit Games competitions like those for men, there will also be events for women. The women's competition, Pegboard contests, Cutting system and Reebok equipment are all well-known. But, do you really know what to expect? Keep reading to find out! And don't forget to check out the CrossFit news page for updates on the competition!
Women's competition
The swim event was the start of the women's division at the 2021 Crossfit Games. Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr and Jonne Koski won in the first event. Koski took the overall title after she held her lead through the entire competition. Tall and Eramo O'Connell finished second and third, respectively. It was the first Games for women, and the women's side hoped to complete the podium.
The women’s competition is populated with high-level competitors. The field includes nine athletes, including a 19-year-old powerhouse who won the competition in Australia last year. Other contenders are Australian athlete Kara Saunders, who finished second in Australia and eleventh worldwide in 2020. Another rising star is Andrea Nisler, who competed in the team division in 2018 and finished third in the United States and fifteenth overall in 2020. These athletes will be joined by Sara Sigmundsdottir from Iceland, who was awarded the first place medal at the World Crossfit Games earlier in the year.
Pegboard contest
Pegboard was an original feature at Crossfit Games 2021. The Games added it to their summer Olympic program, along with double-unders (dumbbell overhead squats) and pegboard. Toomey-Orr won 30 of the Games' most events, setting a new record. Sager won Event 11 for the men and took home his third Games victory. There were several tie in the contest but Toomey Orr's dominance was too strong to stop him winning.

Athletes train for the CrossFit Games by focusing on ten general physical fitness skills: cardiovascular endurance, strength, flexibility, power, speed, and agility. Pegboard tests the grip strength and coordination of competitors. A scale is used to determine the strength and coordination of competitors. The competition was fierce and the athletes felt a sense accomplishment after finishing the Pegboard.
Cutting system
CrossFit Games has a new cutting system for individual competition. While it's not as extreme or drastic as in previous Games, this year is very different. It consists of 15 events so 30 athletes could be reduced after the seventh and eighth events. CrossFit's decision on how to adjust the points distributed after cuts remains a question. It's probable that the scoring table used for the 2019 games will remain nearly the same as the one used in 2021.
This year's CrossFit Games team includes 236 competitors, making it the largest ever. The first six events result in major cuts. The field is reduced to 75 athletes. The top 30 competitors then compete in the sprint couplet to determine which athlete is number ten. The top 20 athletes will then compete in the six remaining events. Castro's system has been criticized by veterans Games athletes who feel that the cuts are too significant.
Equipment from Reebok
Reebok announced new CrossFit Games footwear, clothing and other equipment. The Nano X1 are the new shoes. They're made to fit multiple fitness needs. Reebok has billed this shoe as "the shoe of fitness," but it actually feels more like a traditional training shoe. DuPont's Kevlar, which promotes durability, breathability, and strength, is the shoe's upper. The firm midsole and RopePro tech enhance the responsiveness of the shoes.

Reebok's contract with CrossFit will end at the end of 2020, and the Games will be without a title sponsor. Reebok has sponsored the Games for more than a decade. It is now evident that their involvement in the Games will decrease. Reebok will no longer sponsor the Games' prize money, but it will continue to manufacture all the athletic apparel and equipment used by athletes, including the Reebok gear. However, Reebok CrossFit Games will no longer be called the company.
